I finally found a dry weekend to finish up the siding install on the outside of the french door. Unfortunately, it was about 25° F and windy (feel free to leave sympathy comments). I think my inner core still cold and I've been done for about 6 hours. However, it feels great to have another task completed.
Here is a before view from the inside:

And an after view from the inside:

I completely forgot to take a 'before' picture from the outside, but here it is in mid-install:

This is where it stood for about 2 weeks while I waited for a dry few days. I had installed adhesive flashing (similar to house wrap) to seal it from rain:
And the final outside view. I still need to caulk and apply a few coats of paint, but that's going to have to wait until spring:

I can't imagine how you managed to survive in such harrowing conditions with below freezing temperatures and high winds.
You really must be a model of Endurance to have worked for hours on end in such an environment.
That is too funny! I knew I could really on you Ed, for a worthy comment of sympathy. I feel better now.
I'll have you know, not one man was lost in my struggle for survival either. I did, however, keep losing my tape measure.
I just wanted to say hi, Joe! I really LOVE this blogging stuff - you never know who you're going to meet! :-) I just noticed your post on our site (Bungalow Insanity) and had to come check out your site immediately. A fellow Portlander! Your site looks great -I can't wait to read more.
I too spent yesterday in the snow -at Laurelhurst sledding with my daughter. Wahoo! Anyway, I'm guessing you live in Montavilla because I noticed the links to Bipartisan, Ya Hala and the Academy Theater and so I had to comment on what a small world it is - I was the interior designer for the Academy Theater renovation last year.
I'm looking forward to reading more about all of your great work!
Stephanie- Great to meet you! In the blog world anyway. Yes, I live in Montavilla. I've heard many, many good things about the interior design of the Academy. I'll have to spend more time checking out your site, once I get caught up from the snow day time off. I'm embarrassed to say that I have yet to see a movie at the Academy. I keep meaning to, then just get too wrapped up in the house remodel.
Take care!
